Welcome to 2023! It's a new year. Another bite at the apple. A chance to start anew and get it right this time.
You've been through a lot these past three years and what the future holds is uncertain. But this is a time to embrace the next first moment where optimism, faith, resolution and commitment reside.
In these moments, know that no matter how hard you try, you cannot control what may come your way. In fact, expect that there will be failures, mistakes and unforeseen or unintended consequences that will want to challenge your optimism and faith.
So you must decide. Are you committed to your vision of what your company or organization can and will be? Are you prepared to stick to your strategies and vision in the face of obstacles that will arise?
Only you can answer these questions for yourself. However, if you truly believe that the vision that you most want to forge for the future aligns with your purpose for why you do what you do and why your company or organization exists then I say, forge ahead no matter what.
Don't give in to the conversations - which assuredly will happen - about a "recession" or "downturn" or "economic upheaval". Don't allow your optimism, faith and determination to wane.
With your vision and purpose front and center, serve your employees and your customers well. Engage them in meaningful conversations about the future and their part in it.
Take care of the small things day and day out. They matter.
Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.
- Winston Churchill -
